Johnna Rosson - GT Pullout Teacher for Grades 3-4

This will be my 39th year to teach. I have taught on the elementary and secondary levels, been an Elementary Enrichment Specialist, Secondary Advanced Placement Specialist in Social Studies, and a GT Specialist/Educator. I have my Masters in Educational Leadership from UTPB and my all-level GT Certification from Sul Ross. I am also a proud Texas Tech graduate and Kansas City Chiefs fan! I have one daughter, one grandson and a rescue dog named Brutus. Ruidoso, NM is my happy place and I love to travel! Gifted education is my passion and I’m thrilled to have LBJ as one of the schools I serve.

ECISD Advanced Academic Services provides a GT Program Teacher, Ms. Johnna Rosson, to serve 3rd-4th grade identified gifted students in a weekly 2-hour pull-out program on Tuesdays. Ms. Vanessa Brower, also provides pullout services weekly for gifted-identified 5th-grade students on Thursdays as a part of her candidacy for the National Board Teacher Certification Program. Additionally, Ms. Brower provides after-school enrichment through Honors eSports and Honors Chess Club campus-wide. GT students in the pull-out program have the opportunity to engage in exciting differentiated lessons and to participate in rigorous learning activities such as advanced research & learning chess. Through the use of on-going interdisciplinary curriculums, the GT students are challenged to develop their own questions and problem-solving skills. These scholars learn to thirst for knowledge and are encouraged to pursue projects that ignite their intellectual passions.

1st and 2nd graders who are identified as gifted are served through an inclusion program in their regular classrooms. Gifted Inclusion services are supported by the campus GT Specialist, Ms. Vanessa Brower. All gifted students in grades 1-5 are clustered in their regular classroom for optimal grouping.

Kindergarten students are universally screened for identification as gifted by March 1st according to state law and are then served in their regular classroom for the remainder of the year. If you have additional GT questions, please use the Advanced Academic Services website for any needed information and forms:
